Joy On The Job: A Day in the Life of a Publicist and Lifestyle Journalist

Jordyn Taylor Dean

Behind the Scenes at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

Saturday, darlings, was all about champagne dreams, high-fashion moments, and quick thinking at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic—the sold-out event of the season in LA.

Imagine the scene: fashion, celebs, rosé flowing endlessly.

I arrived in style with my client, KCAL CBS’s evening anchor, Chauncy Glover. We were ready to mix business with pleasure.

Rolls-Royce Arrival to the Polo Classic

Now, Monday through Friday, you might catch me rolling as an Uber driver for my kids in my trusty twelve-year-old Ford Escape—but come Saturday? I switch into full luxury mode.

This is LA after all. We're all about luxury events and looking chic while doing it.

As we cruised to the venue, my phone was blowing up with client calls—because when you’re a business owner and public relations expert, there’s no such thing as a day off.

I was sitting there, champagne in hand, finalizing last-minute campaign details.

Even at one of the most fashionable events of the season, it’s all about the hustle and multitasking in style!

Fashionably Early with Chauncy Glover

We arrived fashionably early (of course) for the red carpet moments.

Chauncy was a showstopper in his stunning Valentino jacket, looking like a debonair dream.

Hands down, Taylor Dean Media's best dressed male client. Don't argue with me—argue with your mama! lol

Meanwhile, I channeled my inner sunshine in a fitted tangerine dress that was practically begging for compliments.

When you’re a PR agency owner, award-winning journalist, and influencer, showing up is never enough—you have to show out, and create a moment.

The goal? Maximum visibility for our clients and ourselves.

And that’s what we did, working the red carpet like pros, ensuring that Chauncy—and our brand—was where the cameras were.

The Event Vibes: Veuve, Caviar, and Celebrity Sightings

As we walked into the event, the Veuve Clicquot was already flowing, and caviar was on deck.

I was still on my phone taking client calls (because the hustle never stops), but the rosé? Baby, it was champagne magic.

I may not have nailed the pronunciation of “Veuve,” but let’s just say I nailed everything else.

Get mama another drink :)

The polo match itself was fast-paced and fabulous.

Picture bougie picnic vibes under cabanas, mingling with celebs like Journi Smollett and Cheryl Lee Ralph from Abbott Elementary

Black excellence was in full force, and I was there for every minute of it.

But while everyone else was there to play, I was hustling, eyes open for the next opportunity.

Every connection, every conversation is a chance to build a relationship, and in PR, relationships are everything.

I might have been enjoying a glass of rosé, but in the back of my mind, I was thinking three steps ahead: who to connect with, what brands could collaborate, where Chauncy could make his next move.

That’s the life of a PR pro—we create the moments, but we’re also working behind the scenes to make sure they matter.

A Day of High Fashion and Barefoot Moments

Let’s talk about the polo fashion. The crowd was dressed to impress with daytime chic looks, but Chauncy’s Valentino jacket stole the show.

As for me, I was out there trying not to step in any divots while perfecting my runway twirl—yes, in heels.

After six hours in those heels, though, it was RIP to my shoes. I kicked them off, ran barefoot through the grass, and let the joy (and the Veuve) carry me through the rest of the day.

Living the Luxe Life: Style Meets Strategy

Luxury events are more than just about looking good—they’re about moving strategically. While others may be there to sip champagne, a PR pro like me is constantly scanning the room for opportunities. You’ve got to think on your feet, shift gears when the unexpected happens (like a misplaced chauffeur), and always be ready to act.

When you’re in PR, especially at high-profile events like this, it’s not just about enjoying the party—it’s about making sure your clients are seen, your brand is elevated, and the moment becomes more than just another event. It’s about building a narrative that resonates beyond the champagne bubbles and Instagram-worthy moments.

Creating Joy in Life and Business

At the end of the day, the magic of PR is turning challenges into seamless moments of joy. Living with intentional joy, showing up authentically, and doing what I love for my clients—that’s the win.

Whether I’m sipping Veuve at the Polo Classic or juggling calls in my car, this is the life I’ve built as a PR owner, lifestyle journalist, and wellness advocate. And it’s these moments of creating opportunities and opening doors, even in heels, that remind me why I do what I do.

So, if you want a seasoned publicist who can work the room, build your brand, and create unforgettable moments—let’s chat. Because joy, darlings, is what I do best.
